My Prime Day Purchases

Did anyone find some great sales yesterday for Amazon Prime Day? The deals this year looked like a complete snooze when I checked yesterday morning, but I found some excellent items later in the day!

As always with Amazon Prime Day, these purchases were completely random, but I saved a lot of money!! Here are my Prime Day purchases for this year:

iMarku 8 Inch Chef's Knife
Originally: $99.00; Flash Deal Price: $22.03

I always try to buy kitchen materials anytime there's a big sale in a store, because lets be honest... we never feel like paying full price for kitchen stuff unless it's a gift for someone else!

Unless you cook a whole lot, you rarely realize you don't have these things until you need them! But nice knifes are definitely a great thing to have in your kitchen, and I've read that a chef's knife is the most used knife you'll ever have! So I was really happy to find this super sharp chef's knife marked down from $99.99 to only $22.03!!!

It also has gotten fabulous reviews and comes in a really cute box for gifting (above)! I'm excited to use this knife once it comes in. Although Prime Day is over, you can still buy this knife marked down to $39.99 here

George Foreman Quesadilla Maker
Originally: $27.13; Flash Deal Price: $14.99

I've been wanting a quesadilla maker ever since I saw one at Target last year... I just didn't want to pay full price for one at the time.

At our condo complex we aren't allowed to have outdoor grills so I have a massive George Forman grill that I use to grill sandwiches, meats, and yes, quesadillas. Once I saw this quesadilla maker made by George Forman on sale, I knew I had to have it!

It makes 10-inch quesadillas and has 6 deep dish pockets for lots of fillings. Honestly, the reviews on this product were a little sketchy, but whatevs. I'll you know how well it works.

I wish I had more items to report back to y'all about, but I was less impressed with the deals this year. I usually find a lot of random stuff that I need, but not this year.

I noticed the lists of sale items were pretty short and the savings were most of the time between $2.00 and $5.00. This year I was really hoping to find a great deal on a television, but no luck.

But regardless, my total savings for Prime Day totalled $77.96! Pretty awesome for only 2 items! If you want to read about my really random past Prime Day purchases, click here

What did you guys get on Prime Day, and did you think the sales weren't as impressive as prior years? Let me know below....

Amazon Prime Day Starts Tonight!!

I hope everyone had a fun weekend! Last week was a little too busy with the 4th being on a Tuesday and all, so I was really happy to have a chill and relaxing weekend full of hardly anything and zero obligations!

I just wanted to stop in and let you all know that Amazon Prime Day starts TONIGHT at 8 pm CST! I actually had no idea about this until I saw it on the news this morning as I was getting ready for work.

I am a huge fan of Amazon Prime Day and the Amazon Prime Now delivery service. If you don't know much about this annual sale, you can read my past posts about Prime Day from the last 2 years both here and here.

This year, if you sign up to be an Amazon Prime member, you will get 40% off your first purchase!! I will check in later this week to let you know about any great deals or tell you about my favorite purchases!

Tara Conner

Does anyone remember the Miss USA scandal back in 2006? Back then, beauty queen and Miss USA winner Tara Conner was the center of a public scandal after she was caught drinking underage, using drugs and acting inappropriately at a New York nightclub.

Consequently, she was ordered by Donald Trump to enter rehab or she would lose her crown and Miss USA title. The media questioned Trump's decision to give her a second chance, but Trump explained that it was somewhat of a personal decision since his brother had died from alcoholism years before.

Tara agreed to complete treatment and completed a 30-day program for alcohol and drug addiction.

The question is.. how is she doing now? It turns out has been sober for 10 years - quite an accomplishment!! Looks like her rehab stay really changed her life for the better. Watch her motivational, challenging and humorous discussion below about her life. She also addresses that people take a different response to the addiction crisis:

It's nice to see something positive arise from a public scandal. You go girl!! What do y'all think about her speech?

4th of July Inspo

It's already time for the 4th of July!!! Can't believe it's already here - this year has really been flying by. Not really sure what everyone's plans are.. kinda odd that it's on a Tuesday. Since people have to work on Wednesday, is everybody celebrating on Monday night instead?

Also, early birthday to my Uncle! He was lucky enough to be born on the 4th of July!!

ANYWAYS. Each year I love figuring out red and/or blue outfits.

Here is some celebrity 4th of July inspiration for your Independence Day gear:

I threw in some extra photos of my favorite celebrities i.e. Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, and an extra of Kid Rock (since he is in American flag theme year round). Also Jessica Simpson! I remember seeing her on the cover of that magazine when I was in college and I was SO jealous. How has she always looked so perfect throughout time??? Same with Paris Hilton.. they're just freaks of nature! Also, can we bring back the red pleather pants circa 1999 - 2000 please?

Hope everybody has a fabulous 4th....

Best Dresses for Summer

I wanted to show you guys one of my favorite finds of the spring/ summer! It is this ruffle surplice dress - a faux wrap dress by Express! Express has been killing it lately with all the spring and summer dresses.

This little dress comes in 6 different patterns and colors. It can be dressed up or down - throw on some jewelry and strappy heels for a cocktail party or flip flops for a casual dinner.. it's really flattering so it would look great on any body type.

It costs $59.90, but Express is constantly having 40 - 70% off sales, so whenever it goes on sale I buy it in a different color. So far I have the dress in Olive and Papaya, and also the red and blue floral versions (below). It runs a little big, so I would order it in a size down - I got mine in the size Small. I've already worn them several times so I've already gotten my money's worth.

The dress also comes in black and spectrum blue. Since this dress has gotten such great reviews, maybe they'll come out with even more colors and patterns next year?

Let me know what you think of these dresses.

Southern Charm Savannah Finale

Guys.. did any of you catch the finale of Southern Charm Savannah last night? It was definitely one of the craziest finales of a reality show I've ever seen (and I've watched a zillion reality shows, so that says a lot!) I really don't want to be a spoiler, so if you want to watch the episode, click here. Even if you haven't watched any of the show you'll find the finale entertaining.

There were so many social nightmares happening at once during this one-hour episode! I mean.... what?? You can't write this kind of drama. I didn't expect any of the events that unfolded to turn out how they did. I'm sure after filming that episode, Bravo's producers will guarantee them another 3 seasons since this crew had a lot more dimension then they were probably expecting.

I really liked this new show! As you know, I am a huge fan of Southern Charm Charleston (you can read my past posts about the show here and here.) The Savannians may not be as glamorous as the Charleston crew, but I found watching them to be fun. Since I since I grew up in the South I felt like I could relate to some of their ongoing issues. My sorority sister's little brother is one of the main cast members (Louis) which also gave me a small connection to the show.

I am hoping Sav will be picked up for a second season.. after this finale I'm assuming it will. Also, did you know that there is going to be a Southern Charm New Orleans?!?! I saw a commercial about it last night and I'm pumped! I bet my favorite podcaster Stassi Schroeder will be pretty pumped about this news also (she's from New Orleans and also a huge Southern Charm fan).

Readers, what did you think of the show Southern Charm Savannah, and its season finale? Let me know your thoughts below!!

I'm Baaaaack!!! (Again)

Hey readers!

I'm so sorry for my very long hiatus. I've had one of the craziest years of my life.. for many reasons that maybe I'll address someday (?!) But anyways, when I started this blog I was dead set on posting consistently, and almost always did so three times a week for years.

When I make commitments to things things I don't like to half-ass them. I absolutely HATE when bloggers make excuses for not posting consistently (especially if they are fulltime bloggers), BUT my career keeps me extremely busy and is full of reading and writing (and lots of brain activity haha).. which leaves me feeling a little drained when it comes to writing for fun.

HOWEVER. Writing truly is my favorite hobby and always has been. So I am going to work on bringing back the blog!

Today I renewed the domain name for this blog -- after 3 years it was about to expire and potentially bought by someone else. This motivated me to start writing again.

In the last 9 months I've thought of lots of topics for me to write about! So yes.. the blog is back. So check back soon!!!!!

Nick Viall is the Next Bachelor

Last night it was announced that Nick Viall is going to be the next Bachelor! If you had told me this a couple months ago I would have been really mad and maybe would have refused to watch the show. I watched him on both Andi and Kaitlynn's seasons of The Bachelorette, and on two seasons of Bachelor in Paradise. He has always been the runner up- almost picked, but ends up getting his heart broken.

I had thought he was absolutely annoying and cringe worthy on past seasons, and thought it was really weird that he kept coming back on these shows over and over! I also didn't see what these women saw in him! But watching him on this season of Bachelor in Paradise (which is still running two nights a week on ABC), he has really won me over! They have shown him in a very different light and I've decided he is looking to find love and he's not just on these shows for fame.

On this season he has been looking out for girls who are living in Paradise with him, giving them advice, and he has also been warning everyone about crazy Josh Murray! He has acted like a mentor/brother type figure to them and I think they all have been really happy he's there.

I also think Nick will make some entertaining TV. I mean .. each season he's been on has been very dramatic or funny/strange because of him. I am glad that ABC is going with a fan favorite and a Bachelorette alum, because I thought Ben's season was pretty boring this year. So.. congrats to Nick Viall! I will definitely be watching his upcoming season! I hope he finds love during his 5th time on the show!!

What do you think about Nick being the next Bachelor??
