These days it is rare for me to meet someone who is from Nashville. People are usually surprised when they meet me and say "Oh, you're actually FROM Nashville?" Growing up I loved it here, but I never really expected this place to turn into what is now considered an "it city"! It is fun to see once run down areas become flipped into hip and trendy neighborhoods. Nashville Scene had a contest a couple months ago for people to come up with the best "You're So Nashville If.." statement. I didn't enter but it inspired me to come up with a list of my own. See below.
You’re So Nashville If…
You remember when Funscape was in the Green Hills Movie Theater;
You still call CMA Fest “Fan Fair”;
You used to shop at the now abandoned Bellevue Mall and you wish it would reopen;
You went to summer & spring concerts at River Stages and Dancin’ In The District;
You can name at least 3 restaurants that were in the space where Jonathan’s (Green Hills) is;
You remember the 2010 flood and it terrified you- and now you get paranoid whenever it won’t stop raining;
You can remember the old Green Hills mall- with the Nature Company, Sanrio Surprises & the Disney Store;
You saw shows at Starwood and don’t understand why it still won’t reopen;
Growing up in Green Hills the H.G. Hills /Wendy’s parking lot was a high school hangout area on a Friday night (so random);
When having a conversation about who was somewhere, you still describe groups by what high school they went to- even though you graduated 10+ years ago;
You avoid Broadway unless you have visitors in town;
You went to lazer tag parties at Q-Zar;
You miss the Corner Market!! It was so much better than Bread & Company;
Opry Mills means summers at Opryland and you know it was 1,000,000 times better than a so-so outlet mall!
Nashville readers, do you have anything to add to this list?
