Weekend Recap

I'm sad its Monday today because this was such an epic weekend!

On Friday, Adam and I went to see Gone Girl. It was really one of the best movies I've ever seen
(and I am super picky about movies)!

It is directed by David Fincher who also directed Fight Club, Seven and Social Network, so I knew it had to be good! Gone Girl is a film about Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) who is trying to find his wife after she disappears on their 5th wedding anniversary.

The story "unearths the secrets at the heart of a modern marriage". It is a mystery, but it is also scary, funny and suspenseful, and unless you read the book, you have no idea what will happen next.

The movie lasts two and a half hours but it really flies by. Ben Affleck did SUCH a fabulous job, and so did the rest of the actors. Tyler Perry and Neil Patrick Harris were in it too, and Reese Witherspoon was a producer for the film.  I'm glad we saw it the night of the premiere because this movie could easily be spoiled- so try to see it asap in theaters! (Note: there are some very inappropriate and graphic scenes/ language in this movie and it also contains violence- so if that kind of stuff really bothers you, you may want to avoid this movie!)

On Saturday was the Ole Miss v. Alabama football game. I am pretty annoyed at myself that I didn't make it down to Oxford this weekend (like some of my friends did) for many reasons that I will discuss in this post! First of all, one of my favorite pop stars KATY PERRY was in the Grove! That morning she was on the TV show College Game Day and her appearance has been all over TV the past couple days! She probably got this gig because her manager, Bradford Cobb, is an Ole Miss alumni.

Above is a picture of Katy Perry and her manager. Katy says she has supported the Rebels for almost 10 years now so she was excited to be in Oxford.

You can watch a video of her College Game day appearance here on the Rolling Stone Website. Below are some pics from her in the Grove. Also after the game, she did the Hotty Toddy chant with the Ole Miss cheerleaders, the Rebelettes!!! She posted it on her instagram account: @katyperry.

Best of all, after a dramatic game, OLE MISS BEAT BAMA 23-17!!!!! This is our first football victory over Alabama since 2003!!!!!!! This was a huge upset and now Ole Miss is ranked 3rd in the country! WOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Fans of the Rebs went a little crazy over the win! They were so excited that they actually tore down the goal posts on the football field (below)

Not only did they tear down the goal posts, but they carried them through the Grove and through the Square in Oxford, and then past the neighborhoods on the corner of University Avenue and South Lamar! See pics from instagram below.

...and carried on through Oxford neighborhoods down South Lamar:

It probably wasn't the best idea for the students to do that since I read that it will cost $4,000.00 to replace the goal post. I read that half of the goal post is now left on the stage in the Grove, and the other half is being kept at some Ole Miss students' apartment. But HOW EPIC IS THAT?

After the game, not only did media report it, but my friends also saw Katy Perry drinking beer on stage and crowd surfing at Funkys, a pizza and daiquiri bar in Oxford. Zack Efron, Liam Neeson and Woody Harrelson were also spotted around town that weekend.  SO COOL!!!

Saturday night we went out and celebrated the Ole Miss victory in the midtown area of Nashville. I can't wait to see how the rest of the Rebels football season goes!

Readers, have you seen Gone Girl yet- and what did you think of the movie? Did you catch the Ole Miss v. Bama game? Hotty toddy!
