Did anyone catch last night's season premiere of True Detective? Honestly, I was a little worried about this season because Season 1, with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, was so outrageously entertaining and impossible to compete with. Also when I saw that Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell were starring I was a little skeptical.
But HBO once again did not let me down. This season looks amaze and very different from the first season, but in a good way. There is a much larger cast this time- Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch (swoon) and Rachel McAdams. There are also many more stories going on at once throughout the show - which will hold your attention and keep you guessing.
This season is set in present day and has a very different vibe than the first season, which took place in spooky areas in New Orleans. This time this season in set in California but they do a very good job of making California look less glamorous and more slummy and creepy- which is hard to do! They apparently wanted to stay away from filming in Los Angeles to focus more on the obscure regions of the state to capture a certain psycho-sphere ambiance. Production for the show started in November 2014.
Rachel McAdams does a fab job of playing a tough detective, and you really forget that Vince Vaughn is Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell is Colin Farrell because they do such an amaze job playing the characters. Thank goodness. It is really hard to impress me these days- I've gotten so picky about scripted TV shows and movies!
Like season 1, this season will only be 8 episodes and I am so pumped to see the rest! Be sure to watch and let me know what you think of the show!
