Lights at Opryland Hotel

If you're going to visit Nashville during the holiday season, be sure to check out the holiday lights display at the Opryland Hotel! This is a must-see attraction and best of all, it is free to see! Opryland Hotel was built in the 1970s and is one of the largest hotel resorts in the USA. This is the 32nd year that the hotel is having their "A Country Christmas" lights display and it features 2.3 million holiday lights, 15,000 poinsettias, 15 miles of green garland, 10 miles of hand-tiled ribbon, a 48-foot Christmas tree, a tubing attraction and a huge ice display.

The Christmas lights attraction opened last Thursday, so Adam took us out there on Friday to see it! The hotel has changed so much since I was last there about 14 years ago and it has built several additional wings! While we were there we ate at the upscale Mexican restaurant, Solario Cantina, in the Garden Conservatory atrium. I highly recommend it! We had never had Mexican food cooked their way before and it was really unique and delicious.

A couple had just gotten married in the hotel before we arrived so it was fun to see all the decorations up for the wedding ceremony and reception!

Also, before we left, I looked around the hotel boutique, Amelia's boutique. Beware of this place because it has so many fabulous shoes, jewelry, clothes, boots, and best of all.... faux fur! They had the best selection of faux fur jackets, vests etc. that I have ever seen. I couldn't believe the fur wasn't real..... so I may make a trip back just for some some faux fur items ;)

This hotel is absolutely huge and it is easy to get lost in there, so be careful! My favorite parts of the display were the horse drawn carriages outside and the gigantic Christmas tree!

Here are some snaps that I took on Snapchat while we were there:

Here are some better photos that I found online of the lights display here, here, and here:

Absolutely gorgeous! Such a fun way to get into the holiday spirit! Let me know what you think of the lights at Opryland!!

The Skinny on the VS Fashion Show

With all the dark and depressing news reports going on lately, I wanted to post about something fun I read this morning! My favorite blogger,  Lauryn Evarts from The Skinny Confidential, got to go backstage at the Victoria Secret Fashion Show - she got to interview the models and got the inside scoop on what it really takes to get in shape to be a Victoria Secret Angel!

People really don't realize the discipline and work that it takes to be a lingerie model, or any model for that matter! It is really a full time, 24-hour-a-day process and takes months of preparation

Learn what workouts to try, what to cut out of your diet, what the models do to keep their curls from falling, and see if the models really do eat before the show. So if you have an event coming up or you just want to know what it takes to get into tip top shape, check out Lauryn's enlightening post here!

The VS Fashion Show hits TV on December 8th! Personally, I'm interested to see Gigi Hadid (I love Gigi!) and Kendall Jenner's first walks on the VS runway (especially since they found out a week before the show that they would be in it)!

Let me know what y'all thought of Lauryn's post and if you've tried any of the models' workout/ diet methods yourself!

How To Make Your Nail Polish Last

This post is for all you nail-obsessed people like me! I cannot tolerate chipped nails (ever) so I end up painting my nails at least once a week - it's been like that for me since I was in middle school. Painted nails are such a fun way to express yourself and look sharp!

I used to go get those expensive gel manicures done in the salon, but after a while I got sick of it because it takes forever for the nail techs to do and it really costs a little much. I also feel like my nails can't breathe with that gel stuck on them for two weeks!

I had been wondering what nail salons do in order to have your polish last so long- and what gives that shiny look that you can only get when you have just left the salon.

And the secret is....................

....a really good top coat!

This Seche Vite top coat is what manicurists actually use in the salon - and ever since I started using it I've been hooked! You also will be shocked at how cheap it is - it costs less than a bottle of OPI or Essie polish and one bottle lasts a really long time!

Whenever I use it, it makes my polish last at least a week with no chipping! It also leaves them super shiny.

Here's a picture of my nails with the top coat after 8 days of wear... as you can see, still no chips!

To Use: Start with clean nails and apply your polish color. Let dry. Next, apply the Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat - it will come out as a large glob but that is completely okay - it is really thick and sets your polish. It dries really quickly!

You can buy it here (it only costs $7.09!)

You can also save money like I did and order this 2 pack from Amazon for only $7.45 .. they are small bottles but last a really long time

Seriously.. try it out! It will save you so much time, nail polish and energy and you'll look like you just left the nail salon! This could make such a fab stocking stuffer too... your friends and family will thank you!!!

Let me know if you've tried this stuff before and what you think!!

November Stripes!!

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! My weekend definitely did not last long enough and I'm bummed to be back at work already! However, I did order some really cute striped clothing this weekend from Nordstrom  - see below:

1  /  2   /  3

Click above to shop! Each top is only $18, and the dress is only $38!! Lately everyone has been all about stripes - (especially black and white stripes) because they are such perfect fall/winter basics. Just throw on a vest, leather jacket, a statement necklace, or scarf and you're good to go! I've been on a hunt lately for warm tops that don't look too frumpy - so I was really excited to order these!!

I actually found all three of these items from the blog The Double Take Girls! The tops are a little low in the back so you can feel guilt free about wearing them with leggings!! The dress can be dressed up or down so it's a perfect investment for year-round wear!

Let me know what you think of these and if you've found any other affordable striped items at other stores!

They go perfect with a pair of booties and they are so comfy that they feel like pajama pants! It could be dressed up or down and could go with so many jewelry items!

Let me know what you think of these. I am really wanting to order the peacock blouse and the acorn blouse above! They are SO cute! If you get anything from their Friendsgiving Sale, let me know!!

New Show: 90 Day Fiance

This weekend I stumbled upon a new show and ended up binge watching it on Sunday.. and now I'm hooked! This is actually the third season of the show and I just now found it on TLC.

The television show 90 Day Fiance shows a very intriguing look into the world of international dating and marriage. The show, set up similar to a documentary, follows six couples who plan on using a unique 90-day fiance visa (called the K-1 visa) to live in the USA with their significant other for the first time.

The catch with this visa is the US government has a rule that you have to get married within three months of when you enter the US - or else you need to leave the country and return home once the visa expires. Also, the person carrying the visa is not allowed to work during this time, so the American citizen has to support them both financially until they are married.

The couples must overcome language barriers, culture shock and skeptical friends and family- all within the three month time frame of when they set foot in the USA. The pressure starts to build as the couples are faced with  a life-altering decision.. get married or send their international fiance back home!

If that didn't interest you enough, read below about each of the six couples:

Josh, 22 (Rexburg, Idaho) and Aleksandra, 21 (Russia)

Josh and Aleksandra met in the Czech Republic while Josh was there on a Mormon mission trip and Alesandra was there for college. Josh was inspired to teach Aleksandra about his faith, and the two soon grew close. Aleksandra, a former go-go dancer, clubber and self-described party girl, converted to the Mormon faith and gave up all alcohol, parties etc. in order to be with Josh. Despite this, Josh's Mormon family still doesn't approve of Aleksandra's past and view her as an outsider.

Loren, 27 (New York, NY) and Alexei, 27 (Israel)

Lorena and Alexei met in Israel when she was on a Birthright trip, and Alexei served as the group's medic. Since then they carried on a 1-year long distance relationship before they got engaged and applied for his visa for him to live in the US.  The two have never spent more than 15 days together at a time, much less lived together. Since Alexei isn't allowed to work for three months, the couple is now moving into Loren's parents' three-bedroom condo so they can save money for their wedding. Loren fears that Alexei will either hate living with her parents, or will get homesick and want to return to Israel.

Mark, 58 (Baltimore) and Nikki, 19 (Philippines)

Mark and Nikki met through an online dating site. Mark's four children from his previous marriage are all older than Nikki (Mark is 39 years older than Nikki) so it causes a lot of family tension. Mark's daughter who is 21 is also still living at home with Mark, so she now has to share a home with her future stepmom who is 2 years younger than her. Because of the huge age difference and the fact that Mark has not dated in 20 years & is very stuck in his ways, it makes them a very bizarre relationship to watch!

Melanie, 33 (Orwigsburg, PA) and Devar, 28 (Jamaica)

Melanie and Devar met while Melanie was on vacation in Jamaica when he was a lifeguard at her beach resort. Devar is leaving his country for the first time to live with Melanie in the USA and her 11-year-old son in a very conservative town. Melanie's sisters are very skeptical of Devar's motives and think he came here for all the wrong reasons- to get a green card, send money to his family back home in Jamaica, etc. Melanie seems to be slowly catching onto all the secrets that Devar has been hiding!

Kyle, 28 (New Orleans) and Noon, 25 (Thailand)

Kyle and Noon met through social media when Kyle was looking for a local to show him around Thailand. Kyle is a bartender in the infamous New Orleans party scene, and Noon, from Thailand, is having major issues adjusting to the wild nightlife on Bourbon Street. She also doesn't approve of his flirtations with the women when he is bartending each night. She has to live with Kyle and his roommate in their almost unlivable New Orleans apartment, which is basically a roach infested frat house! It will be interesting to see if she can last in NOLA!

Fernando, 39 (Miami) and Carolina, 22 (Columbia)

Fernando and Carolina met at a nightclub in Columbia when Fernando was there on a work trip. This is another couple with a huge age difference (17 years!) Their K-1 visa is taking unusually long to go through and Carolina's family wonder if Fernando is scamming her. Fernando also expects her to become fluent in English and leave her Columbian traditions behind.

It is fascinating to see the people adjust to living in American society. You also wonder why these people (and many of these people seem very normal) want to marry someone they randomly met overseas!

You also wonder each person's motives of coming to the US and whether this is all just part of their plan to one day become an American citizen. So far there are about 6 out of 10 episodes left of the season so you can still quickly get caught up!  Have any of you seen this show yet? Let me know what you think!

Donald Trump on SNL

This weekend Donald Trump appeared on Saturday Night Live! Donald Trump's guest hosting scored the show its highest ratings since 2012. The actual number of SNL viewers will be available later this week, but people are guessing that 10 million people watched Trump's episode on Saturday.

To brighten your Monday, here is my favorite clip of the episode (hilarious):

I also loved this skit! In case you missed it on Saturday, you can watch the rest of the episode here

Let me know what y'all thought of his SNL performance!!
