Nashville Memes

Now that I'm back on Facebook I have been discovering all kinds of news and fun things that have been created in the year of my absence. One of the funniest things I've seen is the Nashville Memes page on Facebook.

Now that Nashville has become an "it city" in the last couple of years, there is a whole lot more material for us to make fun of ourselves. Here are the funniest things I've seen posted on Nashville Memes so far.... (if you are easily offended, you can skip reading this post):

Nashvillians, which is your favorite meme? What do y'all think of them? I think I will start making my own because these are just so funny!

Happy Friday,

The Best Sweater: On Sale!!!

What's the best thing about a cowl neck sweater? It's a scarf, sweater, shirt and poncho all rolled into one! Basically the best thing ever for winter. I can leave my scarves at home when I'm wearing a cowl neck!

Back when Nordstrom was having their winter sale in November, I ordered two cowl neck sweaters - this one and this one (which has been discontinued). It has been forever since either went on sale again, and now Nordstrom has my very favorite sweater on sale for only $27.50:

I have the one above in mocha (the greyish one) but it comes in the colors above: ivory, olive and black (order them here). Now that they're on sale I want to order one of each!!!

This sweater is so unbelieveable soft - you would think it was way more expensive than it is. It washes fine in the washing machine with no shrinkage, and you can hang it up to dry. It runs a little large so you may want to order a size down (I got the small which fits me perfect - I rarely buy a small in any tops especially when I'm wearing layers!)

Wear it when you're lounging around the house, while doing errands, wear it to work, or during a cold night out on the town! It can be dressed up or down - and it's so comfy you can sleep in it. Hurry - it won't be on sale for long and it is selling out fast! Click here to order.

What is your favorite sweater and where did you get it?? Let me know below!

The Bachelor... Ben's Season!

When I found out that Ben Higgins from Kaitlyn's season is this year's bachelor, I was a little worried. Ben seems nice but doesn't seem to have a lot of personality, so I thought he wouldn't be very entertaining to watch. He is also 27 years old, and most men these days aren't on mission to find a wife at that age.

After watching 4 episodes though, I am happy because these women really carry the show. They are so entertaining to watch! We hardly see Ben say anything ever, other than explaining the date they are going on, etc....... but I don't even care because these women are hilarious!

Here are who I think are the most notable women on the show so far....

Jubilee, 24. At first I was confused on why Ben chose Jubilee for his main date last week, but I quickly began to see why. Not only is she a war veteran, she was adopted from Haiti by an American family at an early age. She is the only surviving person left from her Haiti family! But what is most special about Jubilee is that she is different than the rest of the girls - she takes risks by saying sarcastic, crazy jokes. Also, while most of the women seem to talk about THEMSELVES during their dates with Ben, Jubilee wants to talk about Ben and the things she has noticed about Ben during their short times together. Watch their date below:

Jubilee doesn't have a beauty pageant answer for everything like the other girls, and just wants to be herself. This is definitely not your typical date that you watch on The Bachelor, don't you think?

Olivia, 23. At first, I thought Olivia, a news caster from Texas, was going to be one of Ben's most compatible women! She seemed very put together and even got the first impression rose in the first episode! She has a great stage presence as you can see here in some of her news reels:

However, as the episodes go on I see that this lady appears to be a complete mess. I don't think she has a chance at all with Ben anymore. She is always making the other women angry and acts very unstable! She is always making weird faces and losing her mind:

Also, anytime she gets time to spend with Ben she makes a fool of herself by only talking about HERSELF and me, me me! It is very uncomfortable to watch:

She all around seems very unstable - having panic attacks, crying and throwing fits about how she doesn't like seeing Ben, her "future husband", on dates with other girls. Really? That's what you signed up for, Olivia!

Becca, 26. Becca was also on the most recent season of the Bachelor - Chris Soules's season. She was the runner up on that season - and I want her to win this time! She is very down to earth and has such a funny sense of humor.. I think she has a really good chance of winning!!! Please pick Becca, Ben!!

Lauren B., 25. I think that Lauren B., the flight attendant from California, also has a good chance of winning. When I watch her though, I feel like she tries a little too hard. The things she says to Ben come off to me as a little creepy and scripted:

From watching Ben's date with her, I think he really likes her so we will have to see what happens.

What do you guys think of Ben's season so far? Who do you guys want to win, and who are your favorite or least favorite girls?? Let me know your thoughts!!

Snow Day?

Today is a snow day here in Nashville, Tennessee.... not much fun for me because I don't get the day off from work!

When I woke up this morning, the news said there had already been 40 wrecks in Nashville by 7:00 a.m. I absolutely hate driving on ice and snow to get to work. Be careful everyone! We seemed to get a lot more ice today than snow.. it took me 30 minutes to scrape all the ice off my car from the sleet and frozen rain!

Hopefully this is the last of snowy/ icy weather for a while! After last year's two week ice storm, I'm pretty paranoid! If you did get today off from work I hope you all enjoyed your day!!

Stay warm everyone..

The Best Face Lotion... Especially for Winter:

I had to let you all know about the absolute BEST face lotion for winter that I've ever tried! Especially since the artic freeze is in full force wrecking havoc on everyone's skin! As you know, I am a huge fan of the self-tanning line, St. Tropez (read my last St. Tropez review here). After reading wonderful reviews, I tried the St. Tropez Gradual Tan Plus Anti-Ageing Multi - Action Face lotion (above):

Now I've officially found the holy grail of face lotions, and here's why:

- It is a winner of Allure's Best of Beauty Award for 2015 and 2014;
- It keeps your face super moisturized literally all day long!
- It is not greasy whatsoever and absorbs instantly;
- I have sensitive skin and it never turns my face red or irritates it;
- It gradually tans your face with each use, so you get a little bit of color on your face - perfect for pasty wintertime!
- It even is anti-aging for your skin! It has a peptide complex called Matrixyl Synthe 6 to plump the skin and reduce fine lines

This moisturizer would be perfect even without the self-tanner and anti-aging properties!!!! I love that it doesn't EVER irritate my skin and it stays moisturized all day! It doesn't turn your face orange or bronzed so don't worry - it just adds a little gradual color that progresses each day! So if you're fair skinned, it will still look great on you!

I apply it to my face before work, and my skin gains a little bit of a glow as the week goes on. Before, this Clinique face lotion was my fav, but this one is better in every way. Try it and you will be so glad that you did! Order it here.

Have any of you tried this gradual tan face lotion, or any of the other St. Tropez products? Let me know!!

Stay warm everyone,

Pantone Color of the Year

1  /  2  /  3  /  4  /  5  /  6  /  7

Pantone has been choosing a Color of The Year since 1999. Twice a year the company hosts a secret meeting with reps from various nations' color choice groups. This 2-day meeting takes place in a European capital, and after many debates and presentations, the Color of The Year for fashion and interior design is chosen!

2016 is the first year ever to have TWO colors chosen as Color of the Year! The colors are Rose Quartz and Serentity. This color is supposed to be a blending between the two shades to invoke an easy, calm, and comforting mood

These colors (resembling baby pink and baby blue) somewhat symbolize the male and female genders as well, so this combination challenges traditional perceptions of color association. In many parts of the world, fashion is experiencing a gender blur, and the androgenous styles have impacted color trends in varying forms of design.

Today's gender-less styling is not about making a man resemble a woman or visa versa. However, with the blending of Rose Quartz and Serenity, a canvas can be adapted to any style. You can read more about the meaning behind the color choice here.

I am not a fan of these two colors at all. I feel like both would be pretty harsh on almost any skin tone. Don't even get me started on what furniture or a room painted in these colors would look like. Serenity could be very pretty as a suit or dress, especially in the summer. But I think the Rose Quartz light pink, and the blending of the colors can make people look washed out. I also get way too much of a 60's vibe from these colors... but I did post some of my favorite ways to wear the colors above! Click on the links at the top of this post to shop!

What are your opinions on the Color(s) of The Year? Do any of you own anything in these colors already?

Calling All Cat Lovers....

Taylor Wolfe from The Daily Tay has come up with a snazzy shirt that is perfect for all the cat lovers out there (like myself!):

Yep, this shirt definitely speaks to me, especially now that it's winter. All I need to do is take a sharpie and add an "s" to the end since I have two cats!

I see shirts about dogs all the time but I never see fashion statements about cats. 20% of all sales of the shirts go towards Taylor's favorite animal shelter in Chicago - so you'll be helping all the homeless cats and dogs out there while showing your love! These run small so order a size or two larger than usual.

These shirts would make great gifts, don't you think? Check out the rest of Taylor's collection of t shirts, coffee mugs, etc. here! She sells lots of stuff for dog lovers too. Don't forget to check out her hilarious blog here.

Can't wait to get home to my cats..........

Skull's Rainbow Room: Review

A new addition to Nashville that is a must see is Skull's Rainbow Room! What makes this bar and restaurant in the historic Printer's Alley so special is that it was once a Nashville landmark before it unexpectedly closed in 1999. The doors were shut 16 years ago after the grisly murder of the original owner, David "Skull" Schulman:

Skull's Rainbow Room opened in 1948 as an exotic dance club. There were many other strip clubs in Printer's Alley at this time, but what set Skull's club apart from the rest was that it had a live band performing music for the dancers.

In the 1990s, Skull converted the club to a country bar. Skull's popularity around Nashville grew, and later the Nashville City Council unanimously declared Skull as the "Mayor of Printer's Alley". Skull befriended celebrities and appeared in several episodes of the television show "Hee-Haw". The bar then hosted celebrity performers including Johnny Cash, Elvis and Jimi Hendrix:

In 1998, one evening while Skull was working by himself in the club he was attacked by assailants and brutally murdered. The criminals were later caught, but the club never reopened until June 2015. For a while, Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar rented the space for storage, but eventually stopped because employees didn't want to go in there, especially after dark. They claimed they would hear Skull's voice calling out to them and they would see ghostly shapes... scary!!

The current owner of Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar, Phil Martin, joined with two other partners to renovate and open the basement-type space. The building had fallen apart over the years so it was a major task to renovate the Rainbow Room to its former glory.

During the renovation process they found hidden treasures behind sheet rock - including amazing walls and the original large food menu for the club:

This sign (above) has been restored and now decorates the main room of the venue.

Skull's Rainbow Room currently serves food (upscale steakhouse food etc.) and handcrafted cocktails. These cocktails remind me of the drinks at Patterson House, look delicious and are named after the people and places from Printer's Alley history:

The bartenders are very friendly and make the drinks so quickly! While you are enjoying your food and drinks you can watch some live jazz music and LIVE BURLESQUE PERFORMANCES on the Rainbow Room Stage:

They have 2 burlesque performances a night. The burlesque dancers are tasteful but I wouldn't consider it family friendly because it's a little racy and the dancers end up wearing minimal clothing!

I didn't get to try the food or the handcrafted cocktails, but I did enjoy a vodka tonic and had such a fun time! The jazz music was amazing and I wanted to film it for y'all to see, but flash photography isn't allowed in there.

I will be going back soon for sure because this was such an entertaining night. The history behind Skull's Rainbow Room makes the experience even more special and I'm so glad the venue was brought back to life!

It was pretty crowded on the Friday night that I went, and even though we were able to get a seat at the bar, I recommend going there first on a week night when it may be a little slower.

The bar opens from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. and they have happy hour specials. Their lunch menu opens from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Dinner runs from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. You can book your reservations here

Let me know what you think of Skull's Rainbow Room and the history behind it below!!
