The Eve of Janus

This weekend we went to the Eve of Janus! This is a debutante ball put on by the Tri Delta sorority alumni chapter in Nashville. Each summer, men and women who just finished their freshman year of college are presented to society in this fabulous event to raise money for the Vanderbilt Children's hospital.

I was in the Eve of Janus back in 2005 and it is so much fun! Back then, this event was held at Hillwood Country Club because there were only 60 girls and 60 guys being presented. This year, there were 175 girls (called signs of the times) and 170 men (called marshals) being presented so it was a much larger event. Also, back when I was presented all the women were required to wear pastel ball gowns- now all the women wear white ball gowns. It was fun to see all the different styles of white dresses that the girls chose to wear!

It was held at the Country Music Hall of Fame. The Tri Delt alumni put on such an amazing event. I was really impressed and blown away by the flower arrangements, the lighting, and they even had a cute little dessert bar for the reception! I wish I had gotten a photo of the little milkshake shooters they had- really adorbs!

My sister and her friend Hannah

We had to get a photo in front of the Batman Building!!

I managed to get a few photos of the beautiful flower arrangements. I loved their color theme- the orangey red roses mixed in with lilies, pink and yellow flowers, etc:

The women being presented also carried beautiful lavender bouquets (shown below). The band was amazing and it was the same one that we had at the Junior League Masquerade Ball that I helped put together this year. After so much dancing we all had to remove our heels by the end of the night:

Great job to everyone who put this amazing event on! Such a fun, unforgettable night!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: My Favorite Deals

The best sale of the year, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is almost here!!! It starts on Friday and sale prices will remain until  August 8.

It is going to take a lot of self control  for me to not overspend during this sale. There are so many items I want, and at such great prices... and with FREE shipping! I haven't been able to shop the sale yet because I don't have a Nordstrom credit card, but these are my favorite items- which have been modeled by some of my favorite bloggers:

Leather jacket by Trove: Now $219, was $329

This leather jacket worn by Lauren Lefevre is my #1 pick from the sale - and I hope it doesn't sell out! It also comes in gray and brown-- which I also want!!

Lush blouse: Now $29.90, was $45

This blouse worn by Caitlin Coving  comes in 7 colors! It is long in the back so it could be worn with leggings.. and such a great deal!

Cowl Neck Sweater, now $29.90, was $45

Love this sweater worn by Katey McFarlan! The camel color is so cute and it comes in other colors too! Last year I wrote about these cowl neck sweaters by Dreamers by Debut! Cowl necks are awesome because they're a mix between a scarf and a sweater and can be dressed up or down!

Knit blazer: now $37.90, was $59.00

This blazer worn by Lauren Lefevre comes in several colors. You never find a blazer for this price- and it could be work to work or out on the town!

Leather Jacket by Marc New York: Now $299, was $450

Above is another leather jacket I'm wanting, posted on SnapChat by my favorite blogger, Haley Sheppard. I love the brown color and I love how it drapes in the front!  And $150 off??? I really may order this jacket too.

Lush shift dress: Now $31.90, was $48

This shift dress worn by Caitlin Coving comes in 10 colors! It would go with so many jackets, vests and jewelry.

Cargo jacket: now $44.90, was $68

This cargo jacket worn by Caitlin Coving has sold out in green, but it could be coming back soon. It's a great staple piece so check back later if you want it in the green color!

Here are some other fun deals that I found:

What are your favorite items from the N Sale?? Let me know below!

Thoughts on The Bachelorette... Jojo's Season

Even though I think Jojo may be one of my favorite bachelorettes ever, I am starting to lose interest in this season. Ever since crazy Chad got sent home I've been feeling a lot less entertained and a lot more.... weirded out. Here are some reasons why:

1. The male contestants are starting to show their true colors.. and seeming pretty lame. Guys..... what is up with the stupid songs about Jojo that they write together and sing when she's not around? It makes me cringe. And now they're writing rap songs about her? Please stop!

2. Why did the guys encourage Wells to kiss Jojo when he went on his one-on-one date? They were pretty much cheering him on and psyching him up! Aren't they supposed to be "in love" with this girl? Aren't they all supposed to be wanting to get engaged to Jojo in a few weeks? If you have feelings for someone you would never be excited about someone else kissing them! Yuck.

3. I was hoping she would pick Luke, but since he has been joining in on some of this weird behavior I'm not rooting for him as much anymore. He's still my favorite for her though:

4. From the looks of things I think it's really obvious that she's going to pick Jordan Rogers. She looks one million times more excited to talk to him than the other guys... and when he told her he loves her, she looked like she was about to faint! I like Jordan okay, but I think he seems ingenuine, kinda fake and too showbizzy.

I also didn't like how he reacted when she confronted him with the fact that his ex-girlfriend said he cheated during their relationship.  I hope the cameras start showing a more down-to-earth, likeable and relatable side to him.

Side note: What I really have liked about this season are the outfits that Jojo has worn! I think she and I have very similar taste in clothes because I've loved them all. Did anyone else love the brown suede pants she wore during her date with Alex?

They reminded me of something Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera would have worn back when I was in middle school or high school... feeling nostalgic over here!

Hopefully after the hometown dates, this season will get more exciting. I really like Jojo and hope she will be one of the bachelorettes who find true love.

What do you guys think of all that's been going on this season?

Live On The Green Schedule Announced!

One of my favorite things to do in Nashville during the fall is the Live On The Green concert series! It is free for everyone, but you have the option to buy VIP tickets. VIP tickets are awesome and worth the money - I would really suggest buying them to your favorite shows!

The lineup for 2016 was just announced:

I'm looking forward to seeing Ben Harper and Band of Horses (which thank God will be on Friday and Saturday nights.. those Friday mornings at work after the shows are rough!) I also like Young the Giant!

I'm disappointed that Moon Taxi will not be playing this year, but maybe they will add them later in the year? Hopefully!!! They've always been my favorite band to see.

Anyways, for your reference the rest of the schedule is below:

Thursday, August 11: White Denim, Allen Stone, Andra Day

Thursday, August 18: JR JR, Passenger, Jenny Lewis

Thursday, August 25: The Record Company, Kurt Vile & The Violators, Dawes

Thursday, September 1: Young The Giant, Repeat Repeat, The Revitalists, Simo, Borns, Coin

Amazon Prime Day is Tomorrow!!!!

**News flash!!** Amazon Prime Day is tomorrow! It starts tomorrow morning at 3 a.m. EST. Last year, Amazon started Prime Day to celebrate the company's 20th birthday (how in the world is Amazon that old?!?!). They say that Prime Day has better deals than Black Friday, and some deals have already started here!

Amazon has been very secretive about what the sales and deals will be this year. Only members of Amazon Prime will be able to shop during Prime Day, but you can sign up for a free 30-day membership to take advantage of the big day!

There will be three types of deals on Prime Day: Spotlight Deals, Lightning Deals, and Savings & Deals. A lightning deal is only available for a few hours-- I got some stuff from the Lightning Deals last year and it was pretty crazy because stuff was selling out so quickly. New sales will be available during the day as frequently as every five minutes.

Also be on the lookout for competing sales. Last year, Walmart had a sale bigger than Black Friday to compete with Amazon-- read about that here.

I will probably be on the lookout for new kitchen supplies this year.. or maybe some new pillows? I'll let y'all know what I end up getting.

Are any of you members of Amazon Prime? Let me know what y'all end up buying during Prime Day!!

Get Your Summer Dresses at SheIn !!

My favorite store of 2016 is SheIn. They have clothes marked down to super cheap prices, and you can earn points for your purchases! Shipping is also FREE!! The clothes are really high quality and they have everything from cocktail dresses to swimsuits. Here are some of my favorite purchases that I bought this summer... and yes.. they were all dresses, as usual:

White off the shoulder lace dress: $18.99

Black cap sleeve dress: $24.99. I have to mention that this lacy dress is perfect. It looks like a $300 dress. I wore it to our anniversary dinner, and since then I bought it in another color. It's available in black/tan and black/ blue. Amazing!!!

Off the shoulder ruffle chiffon dress.. did I mention this could be perfect to wear to The Grove
at Ole Miss?: $21.99

Green halter floral print backless dress.... since we all know leafy patterns are so in right now...$21.99

White cap sleeve v neck underskirt floral print dress: $17.59

As you can see.... these prices are ridiculous. They also let you earn points for reviewing the clothes or posting pics of you wearing the items. Let me know what you think of SheIn !!!

Podcast: The Bitch Bible

I am always looking for a new podcast to entertain me while I'm working out or driving around. A new fun one that I've found is The Bitch Bible podcast!

Jackie Schimmel is a blogger and absolutely hilarious. She really should be a comedian or have her own talk show because she's hysterical to listen to. She has had the blog The Bitch Bible since May 2013. She's from California and worked at a corporate company near her home.  One day decided to follow her friends' advice to start a blog. When the HR department at her company found out about her blog and told her to stop blogging, she refused and quit her job on the spot. Now she makes a living off her blog!

She eventually started her podcast this year. On the podcast she discusses everything - pop culture, life tips, funny stories, etc. I've only been listening in for about 6 weeks but in that time she's had so many guests- including Dorothy Wang from Rich Kids of Beverly Hills, Stassi Schroeder from Vanderpump Rules, many authors and bloggers, and even famous instagrammers (like the mother and daughter from the @CrazyJewishMom Instagram account)!

Jackie's dark humor has me laughing out loud on a regular basis! She also is really relatable. She hasn't had as many new episodes lately because she's planning her wedding - she's engaged to a songwriter in Nashville... so I wonder if she will move here once they're married??

This podcast has no commercials which is nice, and you can even listen for free here. Anyways give it a listen and let me know what you think below! Also.. let me know if you know of any other fun podcasts!
